Getting acquainted

Since 2005 we, Liesbeth Steur and Coen Verharen, have lived and worked in La Raya, the border region between Spain and Portugal; where the provinces of Extremadura and Alentejo flow over in each other. We have exchanged our extremely busy Holland for oceans of space, clean air en the good life in this part of Spain. That step meant for us as entrepreneurs, a goodbye to the world of marketing, communication and coaching.

 

After a small-scale renovation we moved in 2006 to our dream quinta (farm). Coen is occupied with the maintenance of the vineyard and olive grove and the finishing touch of the house. The making of his art is standing on the backburner. Liesbeth coaches with new insights, writes her book, receives friends and family and enjoys life, just like Coen.

 

The questions visitors always have about buying a house or finca/quinta in this region and about the how and what of life here, inspired us to develop a website with mainly rural living environments for sale (entrepreneurial blood will out). On the one hand we offer properties for sale that local people want to sell, on the other hand we search and find on request. In this way we can assist others with realizing their dream.

 

The mornings are totally devoted to the real estate business; office work and viewings. Whether we are registering new properties to put up for sale or visiting properties with clients, being out there is each time a confrontation with the beauty and unicity of this region. We happily share our love for La Raya with our Northern European, Spanish and Portuguese clients.

 

Francisco “Paco” Luis Picado is our Spanish partner. He was born en bred in the region of Valencia de Alcántara and has lived all his life here with a short intermezzo of a few years spent in Northern Europe. He knows the region and its people very well and as inhabitant of the border area he also speaks Portuguese.

The properties in our portfolio are described and presented as they really are. This regarding the condition, the location and the facilities.

 

To enable us to find what you are looking for, we work with an info & preference form. We ask you to take some time to fill it out. Completing the form could help you discover your real, underlying wishes.

 

It speaks for itself that the paperwork of a property should be in order before a sale takes place. We take care of that with the help of a Spanish or Portuguese lawyer. We do know that the average real estate transaction in Spain or Portugal differs from what we are used to in Northern Europe.

Living in La Raya

In this unspoilt nature reserve, infinite living is possible. La Raya offers all good things from two different worlds, Spain, Portugal; Portugal, Spain. Only in the physical sense the old border crossing is still visible. The inhabitants of La Raya have lived together for ages; they understand each other, trade amongst themselves, celebrate fiestas together and help each other in times of distress.

Here, the quality of life comes first. If you dream about a life without time pressure and hurry and with tranquillity and space, you could make this dream come true in La Raya.  A life of enjoying; with time for your self and each other.
